VINTAGE KUNA FLIRT SHORT
We've opened the vault and are offering our "vintage" styles to you! The original fabric, fit and designs that you fell in love with are back.
Like with most things, we've evolved over the years, so some of our older styles have variations in fit and fabric, and will feel slightly different than our newest styles.
FLIRT SHORT : KUNA : Our Kuna print is inspired by molas, a colorful textile art form made with the techniques of appliqué and reverse appliqué . The Guna, formerly known as Kuna, are indigenous people of Panama and Colombia, and are famous for their bright molas, which means "shirt" or "clothing" in the Kuna language. Mola originated with the tradition of Guna women painting their bodies with geometric designs, instead of wearing blouses. In later years, the same designs were woven into cotton, to be worn as the traditional dress of Guna women. The inspiration for molas varies, but is more recently been geometric patterns as well as abstract designs of flowers, sea animals, birds and popular culture. Our colorful mola print incorporates pantone's color of the year, ultra violet, and a bevy of other vibrant colors to put a smile on your face when you wear them. We honor the Kuna women who have made this fabric technique so intriguing and popular for pillows, placemats, wall hangings, clothing and quilts.
